Bellydancing for Breech

Bellydancing with a Breech Baby

Picture

The Deal:
I have heard bellydancers say a good belly roll could turn a breech baby. And some say that you shouldn’t bellydance at all with a breech baby. My guess is that they are both exaggerations. You don’t want to do anything that would encourage your butt down baby to settle her butt further down. Like anything, you want to be careful since your body is full of relaxin and you can more easily get hurt (sprains, tears, etc).

One mom said that bellydancing helped prepare her for labor. ‘I am due now with a breech baby. The bellydancing made me feel strong and open, confident to attempt to deliver my baby breech. I will use the circling and figure 8 during labour as I want to be active to deliver my baby.’

How To:

I am in love with this DVD set for bellydancing during pregnancy.
Click here for general tips for belly dancing in pregnancy.
And here is a nice article about the benefits of belly dancing during pregnancy.

Why it might work:
Belly Dancing during pregnancy is relaxing, fun, and empowering. Plus, it really helps strengthen your pelvic floor. We all need more of that. Anything that makes you feel good, relaxed, and in tune with your body will help increase the chances of a turner. Consider your body and personal situation, of course.
